 Welcome back readers!!!!!!! I hope you all had a summer filled with active days, restful evenings, and lots of good reading. I took advantage of all three and still managed to do a little work on the side. You'll notice this work right away if you enjoy reading fiction. Our fiction section has been updated to include the AR reading and point levels on each book. This will make it easier to locate a book on your reading level when you browse the shelves or the Destiny catalog. Remember, you can use the catalog at home to create a list of books you're interested in reading. You're teachers will be STAR testing you as soon as the district has updated your information from last year. This means you have a little time to brush up on your reading skills before you test this year. As always, the best way to become a better reader is to read, read, read!!! In addition to book check-out, I already have some field trips in mind for many of our classes. The first trip will involve eighth grade students. After studying the book, Speak Truth to Power: The story of Charles Patrick, a Civil Rights Pioneer by Mignette Patrick Dorsey, we will be traveling to the Birmingham Public Library to meet the author!!!!
